Vacation! [May. 28th, 2010|05:34 pm]
[Tags|]

Finally going on vacation soon, whee!

Haven't been on a proper vacation in almost a year.

Going to visit the parents' cottage on the Chesapeake Bay. I haven't been there in about 5 years, so the relaxing will be good. And the yummy blue crab cakes.

:)

Update [Feb. 15th, 2010|12:11 am]
[Tags|, , , ]

Haven't said much lately, possibly because I've been exhausted from incredible amounts of work.
It's all good though. I am happy to have the work.

My friend Heather and I are planning on going to New York City sometime in April for about a week or so. This makes me happy, I enjoy visiting the Big Apple, last time I was there was 2006. Friends in the New York area, you have been dually notified.

Feeling fairly good about most things in life, though I wish some were different. I am getting to know new friends, and strengthening friendships with old ones. I am making concerted efforts to be more social for stuff other than work. I am planning on taking a kickboxing class. I have been cautiously optimistic about the year so far.

I am working on getting rid of a fair amount of stuff to sell at my sister's garage sale in April.

The nephew continues to grow like a weed. He also is a talkative soul and is very good at looking cute when he does something bad. I love the little dude. He's a little over 2 now.

Yeah, that's about it for the evening. I need to sleep too, you know.

Doldrums of January. [Jan. 10th, 2010|08:32 pm]

Yeah, winter, I'm over it. It can begin to warm up anytime now.

On the bright side, I'm going to Chicago for the weekend on the 22nd. I plan to be decadent and lazy and just have fun. I'm also planning to go to Shaw's Crab house on Hubbard Avenue, one of my favorite restaurants. Seafood! :)

Mental Note... [Nov. 15th, 2009|06:55 pm]

...do not wear a turtleneck when going to a dance class. You will sweat through the entire shirt before the end of an hour.

D'oh.

Dancing Fool. [Sep. 27th, 2009|08:05 pm]

I had great fun last night after the Saturday Broom Street show. (Opening night was awesome, by the way, please come see the show).

A bunch of us went out and visited the new "Plan B" nightclub on Willy St. We danced and drank and just generally had goofy fun. The whole back of my head was wet from sweat.

The decor was nice, basically generic trendy nightclub stuff. The space is open enough where you don't feel like you are squished in a tuna can. My only complaint: They didn't have any mojito mix.

The multitude of half naked, gyrating men didn't hurt either. Even though most of them don't bat for my team, it was still nice eye candy.

I will definitely be going back. We need more fun places like this to dance in Madison!

"The flowers that sleep by night, opened their gentle eyes and turned them to the day." [Aug. 30th, 2009|08:26 pm]

[music |The Killers- Are We Human, or Are We Dancers?]

Someone left a potted bouquet of white chrysanthemums outside my apartment door some time between 11:15 Pm Friday night (when I got home)and 10:30 the next morning when I was leaving. Mind you, they were right in front of my apartment, not out where the mail is delivered. There was no note or identifier to know where they came from.

Later in the day, when I went up to get my mail, I noticed that the tenants at apartment #2 also had a similar looking bunch of flowers outside their apartment. No one else in the building seemed to, though, maybe they already took them in.

I called a client of mine who lives in the same complex but has since moved buildings. He said nothing like that had occurred in his building, no flowers, nothing.

I called and left my building manager a message to ask if the was some kind of gifting going on for apartment tenants for renewing leases or something. No answer as of yet.

I am totally confused about where these flowers came from. Most anyone I know of (family or friends) would have left some kind of a note.

*sigh* Totally confused.

Still, they are pretty flowers. They smell nice too. It was cool that somebody thought of me, whoever they are.

Things I Hate, Part 4 [Aug. 17th, 2009|07:12 pm]

I really hate it when you are merging on to the Beltline and the drivers will not Effing get over into the other lane and let you on. ESPECIALLY when they try to speed up and get in front of your car before you finish merging. What the fuck, it takes about 3 or 4 seconds to change lanes. I'm sorry, sir or madam, that I'm inconveniencing you by using the same roadway.

Stupid jerks.

*fumes*

Things I Hate, Part 3 [Aug. 11th, 2009|08:39 pm]
[Tags|]

I hate it when people verablly abbreviate 2010 as "Oh-Ten."

I understand "Oh-Nine" for 09', as there is a zero in front of the nine. There is no zero in front of the number 10'.

Argh.
